AMD PHENOM II X2 560 Vs. Intel® Core™ i3-2100

I am custom building a desktop and was wondering if the hyper-threading in the Intel would make a big difference on using design software and general use or whether it would not be a noticeable and wouldn't be worth the price jump. I have the choice of the AMD with 8gb or Ram or the Intel with 4gb, which would be the best?
