Trying to crossfire with Gigabyte 970A-DS3P mobo, curious about performance loss

As I said in the title I'm trying to crossfire 2 of these video cards http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GP6JGWQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
Now I heard that with my mobo the PCI-e's are locked at a 16x, 4x setup so crossfiring isn't as effective. I wanted to know what the performance loss is, and say if its 10% is that so great that I shouldn't do it? Is there a work around? I'm pretty new to all of this and was just looking for some helpful feedback.

4x vs 16x on PCIE 3.0 isn't a huge difference as graphics cards can't really saturate even 4x. However, I think crossfiring the 270 is a waste of time. It's an old card, and typically crossfiring two low-mid range cards isn't worth the headaches of making crossfire work.

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it, so you're saying i'm better off just buying a newer more powerful card? Any suggestions?

I would say so. What resolution do you run at and what games do you play or plan to play?

1600x900 I mainly made the choice to commit to PC gaming for Fallout 4, other than that I mainly play older games, but with some interest newer games like Farcry 4

Well, if you're going to stay on a 1600x900 monitor you don't really need to upgrade that badly. I would highly recommend getting a 1920x1080 monitor (good ones are around 130-150) and something like a GTX 970 if you can afford it. If not something in the $200 range.
