A 390 beats a 970. What about the oc'd version?

Judging from the benchmarks I've seen the 390 beats the 970 but not by a lot, however what if we oc each one of them to the max? a 970, when oc'd to 1500 something mhz is basically a stock 980, can the 390 beat that when it's oc'd?

A lot of people are saying the 390 is superior but I really doubt that since nobody yet has talked about the oc performance, and I can't find oc benchmarks for the 390, so I'm basically asking just to know if the 970 can be better when oc'd.

Also is the 8gb ram really that amazing since I saw a guy testing it out on 4k, and when it surpassed the 4gb mark it went down to unplayable fps.

Admirable
the 390 is a hawaii chip, so its not really overclocable, and as you said, the 970 overclocked is basically a GTX 980 at stock. the 390x is closer to a 980, so compared to the 390, the 970 will still kick its ass (today, the extra vram will be a godsend in the future), but you can never know. each chip is different, and it might overclock diffenertally. no overclock is promised.

Thanks! then I should be fine with my 970 since it's oc'd! :D
Still though, I expected the 390 to completely destroy my card since it's been 2 or 3 years since the 290 was released and the 300 series kind of felt disappointing

Where did you get that a 390 is better than a GTX 970? And these are just the stock models. Once you start the overclocking race, there's no contest.
