green dots on monitor with DVI but not on HDMI

Hello I been getting green dots on my monitor. I was using it on DVI but when I switched to HDMI an ran fire strike for about 30 mins I didn't get any green dots but I switched back to DVI (bought a new one) still had green dots.. is it my gpu or my monitor.. I'll try my old gpu tonight. Please help me narrow it down..

I'm confused, what did you buy new?
If you bought a new GPU and its still doing over DVi then its your display that has the issue most likely. Can you check it in safe mode?
