Hello ab af,

I would suggest these changes straightaway to make your build better. Consider these:

- Parts to be replaced from the above config - Motherboard, Hard drive and PSU.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($86.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($50.89 @ OutletPC)
Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $187.87

- Swap the MSI B85 chipset based motherboard with the Gigabyte H97 chipset based motherboard. Because the i5 4590 is a Haswell Refresh, which may not even be able to get recognized by a B85/H87/Z87 chipset based motherboards without updating their BIOS. In other words, the H97/Z97 chipset based motherboards will be able to recognize and support the i5 4590 right out of the box without any need for BIOS updates.

- The Western Digital Caviar Blue are more reliable and better performing ones than Western Digital Caviar Greens.

- The GTX 960 only require a quality 430W PSU that can delivery 20Amps or more on its +12V rail.

- Though the EVGA 500 B1 PSU is a decent one, completely capable of powering the GTX 960, it's a "Tier 3" PSU that comes with cheap capacitors (No Japanese caps), so its longevity is questionable.

- The Rosewill Capstone 550W is a quality "Tier 2" PSU manufactured by Super Flower can deliver 45.5Amps on its +12V rail, which is more than enough to power this rig.
- 100% Japanese capacitors.
- Has the following connectors:

1x 20+4-Pin Main Connector
1x 4+4-Pin ATX12V/EPS12V Connector
2x 6+2-Pin PCI-E Connector
5x 4-Pin Peripheral Connector
6x 5-Pin SATA Connector
1x 4-Pin Floppy Connector

- Unmatched 7-year warranty.

- This PSU also gives you the option to upgrade in future to AMD R9 280X/380 or NVIDIA GTX 970/980, if you want to.

- For 1080p gaming GTX 960 is a pretty good choice. Stick with it. The GTX 960 even manages to outclasses the AMD budget heavy weight R9 280. Check these videos:

Update:

SSD helps you with significantly reduced boot/loading of OS/game levels, instant launch of hardware intensive software applications etc. Yes having a SSD would be nice but not mandatory. Hence, you decide on that based on what you're budget allows.

In case, if you're getting an SSD get either one of these:

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($56.37 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($97.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $154.36

If you would like to know why this SSD, I've already talked about this in detail in this thread. Take a look - http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2691511/ssd-gaming-240-250-256gb.html

Cheers!
