I recently bought a used HP tower with a i7 4770, which is a huge upgrade from my previous AMD x3 450 system.I put my old EVGA gtx460 1G and I also replace the PSU with my old 500W one. Considering the gtx460 is a main stream card from about 4-5 years ago, I feel it might be too old to run anything released recently.

Now I have three choices:
1, Use integrated Intel hd4600, no extra cost, saves energy bill and runs cool.
2, Use gtx460, no extra cost, the computer runs warmer. (Current setup)
3, Buy something new, spend the money and get the performance.

What's the performance difference between intel hd4600 / gtx460 / new $150 card? Worth to spend the money for a light gamer and everyday user?

Hd4600 would be the worst gaming gpu, the gtx460 is medium these days. It can still game just at reduce quality in most games. A new card is your best choice and at your budget I would get a GTX750Ti.
