So i am currently looking to upgrade my system from a i5 and cheap mother board to a i7 or a Xeon (depending on whats better for me)
So i have 2 choices i can go for .
Choice 1
CPU: Xeon E3 1230 V3
Choice 2
CPU: Core i7 4770

These will stay the same as I am only upgrading the CPU at the minute and I have decided what MotherBoard i wil be going with.
GPU: GTX 770 SC 2GB GDDR5
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1866Mhz
Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Hi Robbie, if you compare them side by side the Xeon is 100mhz. slower than 4770 and turbos to3.7ghz. while the i7 lacks ability to use ECC (error correcting code) ram and turbos to 3.9ghz and has onboard graphics. Price difference is around $50.00 US higher for the i7.

The Xeon E3-1231 is a bit faster than the E3-1230 and actually costs less. ref.-

If you don't need IGP the Xeon is a good solution and saves money. You can use H97 board with both cpu's to save a bit more money also since neither xeon nor locked i7 will overclock.
