Hi,

Is it at all possible to transmit HDMI over existing vga cable. I have installed though a wall and ceiling, 50m of VGA and want to change it to HDMI.

Solution
Unfortunately, I don't think so.

HDMI needs four balanced cable pairs (each of which should be independently shielded). VGA needs three unbalanced coaxial cables.

You can put HDMI over two Ethernet (cat5e or better) cables, though.

it is possible, but you would need to get a converter, depending on what HDMI is connecting to, maybe 2.

The audio part may not be necessary depending on what you are using it for, but its a nice to have, just in case.

also from personal preference, i find that converting DVI/HDMI and sending over cat5 is better than using VGA, if you have super annoying mice that chew your cables, troubleshooting a VGA cable is nigh on impossible. cat5/6 is much easier and can be spliced back together if you know where it has been cut. Just throwing it out there.
