Hi all,

Looking for a little advice with regard to finding the best 4k UHD gaming monitor (hopefully for less than £400).

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions/experience of their own when gaming.

Appreciate any help with this :)

Update:

I do not have this monitors. And the stories about terrible for gaming may be due to limitations of their GPU. You certainly need a beefy GPU to cater to the needs of 4K gaming. Also it depends on how well a game is optimized for such high-res gaming.

Read this critical review to have an idea about this monitor. Particularly, the section "The Gaming Experience"

Update #2:

Consider this quality monitor from iiyama corporation, Japan. Again, I don't own this. But have heard great things about iiyama monitors::

iiyama ProLite B2888UHSU, 28" (B2888UHSU-B1) £327.78

Screen size: 28"/71.1cm • Resolution: 3840x2160, 16:9 • Brightness: 300cd/m² • Contrast: 1000:1 (static), 5000000:1 (dynamic) • Response time: 1ms • Viewing angle: 170°/160° • Panel: TN • Refresh rate: 60Hz • Connectors: VGA, DVI, 2x HDMI 1.4 (1x MHL), 2x DisplayPort 1.2 • Other connectors: 2x USB 3.0 • Ergonomics: height-adjustable (130mm), Swivel (±45°) • VESA: 100x100 (occupied) • Power consumption: 34.5W (typical), 0.5W (standby) • Special features: LED backlight, loudspeaker, flicker-free • Warranty: three years

The Good:

Super-high-resolution display
Does 4K at 60Hz via DisplayPort
Height-adjustable stand with swivel
Makes games look incredible

The Bad:

No portrait viewing mode
Viewing angles not a match for IPS

Hi Yeskay, thanks for the reply. I did like the look of the Samsung, the only thing which I thought might be an issue would be the non-swivel and non-adjustable height (as I'd prob still use my 27inch monitor too. Have you purchased one of these?

Just want to know how good it will be for gaming as I've read are terrible for gamers.

EDIT:

Seems to be £299 now on Amazon?

Avoid the Samsung above, it uses PWM dimming at brightness below 30, which is too high to use in a dark room.

Here are my suggestions, all of them flicker free and suitable for gamming (meaining good response times and input lag with reasonable color presets)

Acer Predator XB280HKbprz
https://skinflint.co.uk/acer-predator-xb280hkbprz-um-pb0ee-005-a1120202.html
TN but with G-Sync

Acer S277HKwmidpp
https://skinflint.co.uk/acer-s277hkwmidpp-um-hs7ee-001-a1203051.html
IPS, but does not have a height adjustable stand, is not VESA compliant and has frame-less casing which has an inner black bezel which ruins the perceived black depth.

ASUS PB287Q

TN, the cheaper good UHD you can buy.
