Sapphire R9 290 TRI-X 4GB VS. MSI GTX 970 4 GB

I have been reading around and everything is telling me to get the GTX 970 but its $500 in Australia and the R9 290 is $400. Prices are very different to America and UK. I'm not sure which to get. I want to game at 60 fps on high to ultra setting on at least 1080p but really want it to be what I described earlier at 1440p.

Also I am planning to get an intel i5. Don't know if I should get a 4460 or 4690. At this moment I don't want to Overclock.

What I'm planning to get:
- Intel i5 4460 or 4690K
- Intel 730 240GB SSD
- WD 1TB 7200 RPM HDD
- 8 GB Fury X Ram (Maybe 16 GB)
- NZXT Source S340 White
- NZXT Kraken X61 Water Cooling System (This is going to be when I get more money after this build so I'll be using the stock fan)
- I can't find a good Mobo so I would like it if someone would recommend me one
- PSU (Need a PSU that doesn't have any fancy features and is not too expensive as in Aus the PSU are pricy. Please recommend one)
- GPU (Topic of this thread)

For the CPU , get the i5 4460. It has a very, very small decrease in performance when compared to the i5 4690. For the GPU, go with the R9 290 or the GTX 970, they both have very, very similar performance, so just get whichever is cheapest for you. For a motherboard, i would suggest an ASrock H97M Pro4. I have it and it is very good for its price.

Also, why not get the parts from a store called MSY. There should be one near you and they have very good prices, i have built multiple systems using parts from them.

Hey, I'll look at the motherboard you suggested and see if its not out of my price range and I'll check out MSY. Would you recommend any GPU other than the R9 290 or the GTX 970 as I have just seen the prices for everything and is way out of my budget. Thanks

Also, should I get an AMD CPU and which one so that it might make my budget for a GPU bigger

You should stick with the i5, its a good cpu for its price and will perform better than any cheaper AMD cpus.

I don't think I want to use ebay. Anyways how good is an R9 270X? High on 1080p 60fps?

Glad for CS:GO but disappointed for witcher 3. I expected it to be at least 30 fps constant.

Also, do you know anywhere I can get a NZXT Source S340 White? Mwave has it but is currently out of order. I also can't pay high shipping prices. Thanks

But I did used to have a PC with AMD Stalin, gtx 570 and a thermaltake black widow 850W psu. But I sold all that to start building a new PC.

I mean if I built this computer with a R9 270x and 16 gb ram and I wanted to make another.

Maybe, but you would lose some money. But these specs should keep u going for a while.
