I currently have an Asrock p67 extreme 6 motherboard that has been acting a bit flaky. I run an Intel 2600k 3.40 (sand bridge) cpu that's never been overclocked.

I was going to replace my CPU but performance vs price I don't think it's worth it as the i7 2600K is still pretty solid. So I would like to try and get a new modern motherboard and overclock the 2600k to get a bit more life out of it.

The Asrock p67 isn't supported really anymore through bios updates / drivers either. So My question is does anyone have a good recommendation for a new Motherboad that will work with the I7 2600k's and allow easy overclocking?

I read alot of people like the Z77 extreme 4 but thats a 3 year old motherboard as well. I was hoping to get something new that will transfer to a new CPU in the future.

Thanks in advance.

i7 2600K uses the LGA 1155 socket. Current models use a different socket LGA 1150.

The only new Z77 chipset model still sold seems to be the ASRock Z77 Extreme4. There are many business class motherboards with LGA 1155 socket available. You might try eBay for used models that are no longer available new.

Current new models no longer use socket LGA 1155.

So is it work upgrading to a newer motherboard over the P67 extreme 6? Or should I be getting a new processor / Motherbaord now?
