The plot thickens. These are the only models my area has available at the moment

4gb r9 270x dual boost
3 gb r9 280x
4g r9 290x
8 gb r9 390

What is your area? That is one of the big reasons I use internet retailers. You have the choice of just about any model currently available and the lowest prices (and you may also avoid taxes and shipping).

But to give you advice on a graphics card , I would need a firm budget range. Unless you get a phenomenal buy, I wouldn't buy one of last years models The 8 gb r9 390 is overkill for your processor (unless it is part of a system upgrade).

Asia, Philippines,

Let me convert it to dollars

210$ 4gb r9 270x dual boost
220$ 3 gb r9 280x
340$ 4g r9 290x
396$ 8 gb r9 390

my budget is around 250$ so the 270x and 280x is in that range. or do i need to search more and get a 380 or 390? because its newer?

The more I look at the R9-380 the less I like it. The reviews are less than stellar.

I realize that you seem to prefer the AMD cards, but in a head to head comparison you would be better off with the GTX 960 4GB. If you expand the budget a bit, either the GTX 970 and R9-290 would better choice.

new update. little brother took my gtx 970. i now have to choose between a sapphire 290 trixx oc or a palit gtx 970 reference card. Help!

Sapphire is a good choice for AMD graphics cards. I don't have any personal experience with Palit graphics cards. They do reasonably well in comparisons tests, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a GTX 970 with a reference cooler.

Between the two graphics cards (and given your preference for AMD) I would get the Sapphire .
