Unidentified Network - No Ethernet Internet Access On Desktop

I have been looking for a solution for this problem over the past 2 days, and am at my wit's end as how to solve it.

So 3 days ago, a cable guy came in and installed a PlugLink Adapter that fits into any wall socket, and it is supposed to provide an Ethernet hot spot for my desktop computer. It was working great for about an hour or two, until I put my computer in sleep mode. When it woke up from sleep mode, the only connection I could manage from my Ethernet is either "Limited" or "Unidentified Network". When I troubleshoot the faulty connection, it says "Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration". I have messed around with multiple settings including: uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, setting the Internet Protocol Version 6 and 4 to automatically obtain my IP address, manually putting in my IP address with the information provided by typing in "ipconfig" in the command prompt. If someone could help me, that would be great. Thanks.

As you can see, there is no Default Gateway there. I am not sure how to remedy this.

Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.241.86(Preferred) means that your computer was unable to obtain an IP address. Your router is the device that assigns IP address.

I assume your setup looks something like this:

cable or DSL modem -> Router -> Pluglink Adapter -> Computer

your pluglink adapter is not talking to the router

How would I go about configuring my adapter then? It's a simple PlugLink Pass through 500 wall adapter and it didn't come with a manual and there doesn't seem to be one on the product's website. All there is is a button on the side and what I assume to be a reset hole.

trace the cable that goes from your router to the pluglink, check the ports on both ends of that cable for link lights.

trace the cable that goes from your computer to the other Pluglink, look at the ports on both ends of that cable, make sure the linklights are on.
