Upgrading my old GPU and PSU need advice.

I want to upgrade my GPU to a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming GDDR5 4Gbhttp://, also I probably need a new PSU for it.

I have a:
Motherboard: MSI P67S-C43
CPU: Intel i5 2400 3.1GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
RAM: 12Gb
Hard Drive: Western Digital Black 1Tb
PSU: CODEGEN 500W 20+4 pin

I know that the 970 is big, so I probably need to lower the hard drive and remove the rail from one side.
The PSU is probably to weak for the 970 so I thought of buying this one: http://

I need help, is this a correct PSU, will it be compatible with my other components, and will the 600W be enough(the 6pin 8pin power connectors and the wiring makes me confused)?

I would get the XFX TS 550w for that price, good unit, tier 2 compared to 4, and it will be enough wattage!
