Can't delete windows.old as file is in use

Hey guys, so I have an error I haven't come across before so I have no idea how to fix it. Essentially, after giving myself ownership and running the clean-up application, the "Windows.old" folder will not remove itself. I cannot delete it as it is in progress?

Any help would be great.

In Disk Cleanup, there should be an option for "Remove previous Windows installation" or words to that effect.

I think I'd mentioned that I have done this, but anyway, I have and the folder is still there.

Is the folder empty?
I've never had a problem with it not going away.

Have you rebooted? Possibly some service is still looking at it.

Yeah, I've literally done it three or four times now as soon as I've booted. I'll try again through cmd and see if it makes a difference.

I assume I cannot delete because these files are in use. I used the elevated CMD, gave myself access rights and attempted to delete. The link shows the denied messages.

Right. But what could be using them?

I fixed it. I launched Windows into the admin CMD and deleted it that way. Thanks for the help though guys.

Yes...Run as admin.
