Microsoft states that Cortana is available in the UK. My region and language (including input) are set to UK, which is where I currently am, and yet I am unable to enable Cortana.

In the 'Cortana and search settings', I get the message "Cortana isn't supported in the region and language you've selected". I have configured my microphone for speech input.

Any solutions or similar experiences?

Finally got cortana to work for UK, If any you guys are having problems getting it to work with UK language here's what I had to do to.

Start>settings

Time & language

Region & language

Additional date, Time & Region settings

Clock, Language and Region

Language

Advanced settings

Change override English(UK)

Apply Language settings to the welcome screen, system accounts and new user accounts

Copy settings

Tick Welcome Screen and System Accounts box / OK

Restart computer.
Yes, even though I am not in UK. (Ireland instead, where it's definitely not supported) I changed all language packs/speech etc to UK and Cortana didn't work. however, if you change everything to US (Locale,Keyboard,Language,Speech) and restart. Cortana will be fine again. And you won't be seeing any errors.

There are three things that need to be set to UK english.
1. Keyboard/input language (possibly found next to the clock on the taskbar)
2. Region
3. UK English language pack from Region and Language settings menu (Click through and download the 6mb language pack).

This will take effect after a restart. Problem should be solved

Not working for me in UK with all UK settings on the public version of Win 10, but it works on the Technical preview with the same settings. On the public version changing to US makes it work but not UK. Looks like a bug.

I had the same issue on my laptop. I clicked into the 'Ask me anything' box bottom left and it seemed like set up of Cortana wasn't complete.
It looked odd because it had the option buttons at the bottom of 'Settings' and 'Not interested'. Of course, I had been choosing Settings.
When I finally chose 'Not interested' it asked me to choose a name and a couple of screens later Cortana was working!

Change region to USA.
Change language to English (American ) as default.
Change time to somewhere in USA, I.e. Eastern standard time.
Cortana will now work, so set her up.
THEN change above settings to UK, English and UTC.
CORTANA will now work ok.
Hope this helps.

did the above and cortana worked ok after changing the settings to USA did the log off and back on still working then set UK and stopped working again

It worked for me but I did not log off, just changed settings back to UK.

Solution

thanks yep got it working in the end, you need all 4 to be on UK for it to work if one is out it fails

None of the above suggestions were working for me; turns out I had to set the default language to UK as administrator.
I have a separate account for admin and run as standard user for my normal account. Login as admin set as above for UK and reboot then found Cortana could be enabled as admin and then, with no reboot, also on the standard user account.

On one of my computers, making sure all the settings (region, input, time zone, locale...) were set to UK English did the trick.

On another computer, going intoi Languages > UK > Options and downloading the language pack fixed the problem.

Thanks for the help!

Found a fix and I posted it on the Microsoft Community forums as a discussion. See Get cortana in the UK
