It's hard for me to put into words, which is why the title may not be very clear. I have all 16:10 monitors, as i prefer them for graphics production, however im also a gamer, and have been dabbling with eyefinity, and i have 3 monitors set up to my computer, however, two of those 3 are 19" and the other is 22". I'm not particularly wealthy, so i can't just get a 16:10 monitor out of anywhere, second hand monitors are really my only option, finding monitors for cheap is not the problem though.

If i were to purchase a 16:9 monitor to replace one of my 19" monitors, i need it to be the same height as my 16:10 monitor, I know i'll have to go up an inch or two in diagonal length for 16:9. So does anybody know if I'll need a 23" 16:9 monitor, or a 24" 16:9 monitor, to fit the vertical height of my 16:10 22" monitor as best as possible, obviously with miss matched setup like mine im not bothered about milimeter precision, I'd just like the monitors to be lined up well.

I know this question is a bit of a mouthful, and there's alot of bulk information, but I feel I had to add all of it so people can actually understand what im trying to say, i'm not particularly eloquent with terms outside of actual computer hardware, so monitors I'm not too savvy with. I'm sure theres some simple thing i can do to work it out but i'm not great at maths either.

Thanks in advance to everyone who can help.

So for 3% greater vertical due to 1080 you effectively have about 14.9" vertical which is greater already at 23". I have 23" monitors and love them but would have liked more vertical for spreadsheats

If you use the ratio of displays in the Pythagorean equation you find y = 2.3 for a 22" 16:10 display and 2.54 for a 23" 16:9 or 2.60 for a 24" 16:9 display. Plugging that back into the equation to get the height dimension provides 14.50" for 22" 16:10, 14.43" 23" 16:9 and 14.88 24" 16:9. I started this to figure what would be needed to display the same vertical but realize that for graphics production you realize you get less vertical display unless the resolution is greater.

Ah yes, i should have also mentioned, my 22" 16:10 is running at 1680 x 1050, and I'm gonna get a 1920x1080 display if I get a 16:9 monitor, so there will be a higher resolution

That's what i love 16:10 for, but thanks for the help dude, I think I'll probably go with the 23" then, i've used 23" before and i feel like they are perfect size (atleast 16:9) I've used them at my college, so thanks dude I'll be sure to try and pick one of those up :)
