Getting a SSD, put windows on hdd but keep games on HDD, how can I do this?

Right now i have a 1tb hdd with 550gb free, but im getting an ssd and was wondering if windows 10 would let me install windows to the ssd directly from the os and then delete windows off my hdd and make the ssd the active partition and use my hdd for bigger games.

You would need to do the Windows 10 update first (keeping all settings/programs), then you can do the fresh install on your SSD.

I already have done the windows 10 upgrade onto my hdd, so i would do a fresh install and use my product key for windows ten for the fresh install on the ssd, and would my hdd work automatically with windows once its on the ssd?

If you buy a Samsung ssd sufficiently large, you can use their free ssd migration tool to copy windows to the ssd.
There is an option to exclude large data files from the transfer.
500gb ssd's seem to be on sale.
You probably have a file windows.old that you can delete if you will not go back from windows 10.

I would love to buy a 500gb ssd buy i only have around 50 bucks to spend so i want a 128gb ssd for windows and maybe a game or two

Also i have windows installed on IDE mode on hdd, do i need to wipe my hdd for ahci or once wndows is installed on ahci on ssd will the ide hdd still work with it?

The best thing to do would be to fully backup the HDD, and then perform the upgrade, then partition and format the hdd.
