windows 7 pro activation key

Hello,
I have a extra windows 7 pro 64bit activation key,
now if i upgreat my old computer what is (still) running windows vista to windows 10
wil this key work ? or do i need to update to windows 7 --> windows 10 ?

you need to install/upgrade to 7 first. then to 10.
Also win10 upgrade does NOT use keys. it has to be done for the first time from within windows as upgrade. after win10 being activated, you don't need a key at all for reinstalls. (MB serial/somesuch is stored at activation servers so they know you are you)

Only Windows 7/8/8.1 gets a free upgrade to Windows 10.

So you would need to install 7 in order to be able to get the free upgrade to Windows 10.

There is no upgrade from Vista directly to Windows 10. You'd have to upgrade to Windows 7, and then to Windows 10.
