Buying a Third Generation Intel CPU in 2015

I was just planning on upgrading my PC when I encountered this problem. I checked my motherboard and noticed that it supports 1155 socket. Which is old. Now I won't upgrade my motherboard if not necessary. My budget for a CPU is 160$. Should I wait and save money for a new motherboard or should I upgrade now to a third generation CPU.
