What monitor to choose with my MSI GTX 980 gaming 4GB

Im confused on what to get. Should I get a Asus 1080p 144hz monitor or a 1440p monitor. Or can someone recommend me something else.

I will be gaming yes. I will be playing games like GTA V, BF4,Battlefield Hardline(Maybe not ) Upcoming game Star Wars Battlefront, H1Z1,rust,Unturned, CS:GO, Call of Duty, alot of steam games and first person shooters. Maybe not all on list but that's what I hopefully want to play.

Max screen size for a 1080p monitor is 24in and for 1440p 27in. Budget. For 1080p in the $100 area and $250 for a 1440p

Acer does make a cheaper 27" 1440p60fps monitor but the reviews are kinda mixed so take aty look at this 25" 1440p60fps monitor
