Start Menu Search Missing (Windows 10)

I Recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 and so far it's been great in terms of compatibility.
My only issue is that the Start Menu doesn't seem to be the same as others and is missing the search field on the bottom and the power settings next to the username (View Image Attached)
I Noticed when I played around with the Beta it seemed to be fine so I'm not exactly sure what the issue is here.

Here's what my Start menu looks like

Here's what I want it to look like (What I assume it should look like without the tiles)

Thanks

Use Classic Shell or Start is back to return the start menu to XP, 7 or 8 style start menu behavior. Also, in Windows 10 if you right click on the task bar, select "search" and then "show icon" or "show search box", it will implement the advanced search feature onto the taskbar next to the start menu, but not on it. You need a third party utility if you want search on the start menu itself.

There are also further power user options available if you right click the start menu button, which keeps the start menu itself a bit cleaner.

I personally like Start is back better than Classic Shell, but it's not free either. Start is back is 3.00 here:

But Classic Shell is free here:

Thanks for your input DarkBreeze,

Unfortunately I'm looking for a Solution not an Alternative, I used Classic Shell on windows 8.1 and loved it, Although considering Windows 10 has the start menu I like I uninstalled Classic Shell to use the default Windows 10 Start Menu. The style I want is apparently default in Windows 10, I remember using that exact style in the beta.

If you look up the "Windows 10 start menu" you'll see many other images that demonstrate the search field inside the start menu.

For some reason my start menu doesn't have the same features you see here: http://www.download3k.com/article_images/0/852/full_2_fe51d9245ea2a2fa20a66bc62e2f7ba2.png

I'm really not sure if this is just something from the Beta, or weather it's supposed to be in the final release too.

As far as I can tell, what you're missing are actually changes to the UI that were made between the Start Menu in the Beta and the one that is currently deployed. For example, the sample photo you provide in your original post, of the Start Menu that you want, is posted here:

This blog post is dated October 2014. Any new photos of the Start Menu in much more recent news articles or blogs look the way you have it now.

The start menu in windows 10 does have a search function, it is just not apparent that it does.

To search, open the start menu, but do not click on anything within it. Instead, start typing and the search dialog box will appear with the search query you have started to type and the choice options in answer.

You may find it helpful to restrict responses to what is on your local machine. To do this make your query "search settings" and turn off the default "search online and include web result" option within system settings.

If you prefer to search via the start menu, you can also free up real estate on the task bar by right clicking on the "search" icon and ticking the "hide" option.

Remember that turning off web searches in "system settings" will mean that for web searches you will need to search in the traditional way using your web browser, but for those who like to keep their local machine and online search features separate from each other, this will not be a hardship.

Thanks for that, @vclparke. While not a complete help, it helps enough. :)

I observed the same thing on my ThinkPad X100e. It has an unusual screen resolution of 1366 x 768. For my old eyes I had gone into Advanced Display Settings and "set a custom scaling level (not recommended)" of 109%. Like you I wasn't seeing the search box at the bottom of the Start menu although it seemed to function properly.

After reading this thread I went back and turned off "set a custom scaling level (not recommended)" and the search box reappeared.

Now I just have to squint.

This is all from some planet I don't recognize. There is no "search" in the menu when I right-click on the taskbar. There is a "search" when I right-click on the start menu button, but there is no "show icon" or "show search box" when I hover over it or select it.

This is what darkbreeze is talking about. When I right-click the task bar, the following context menu is displayed:
