Is it complex to set up solar panels to run my desktop? I live in an apartment, so setting up my power source to run totally off of solar panels is not an option. What would I need, what is an affordable option? Thanks.

Nothing wrong, just curious for ways for me to use stuff off the grid if it's possible.

you would need a fair amount of battaries so when there is no solary power the pc whont just shut down.
But first you will have to make a list for yourself:
1: what kind of pc
2: how often are I going to use it?
3: how much money am I going to spend?
4 where are I going to put the solar panels?
5: how many can I fit? and how much power is that going to give me?
6: how am I going convert the power?

If you have all that you make some choises. maybe you can make more power that you realised and build a better pc? or maybe you need to go down on pc power.
and you will need to convert the power ALLOT. you can do it 2 ways easy and hard.
easy: solarpanel -> battarycharger -> battary to grid -> normal PC psu -> pc
hard: solarpanel -> battarycharger -> custom psu -> pc

the hard way needs a custum psu and it wil be hard to build for some 1 with no experiance. But it will give you far better power efficientie.

@mattios I study electronics so yes I know about solar power etc
