I am wanting to build a gaming htpc instead of going to buy a ps4 or an xbox one. I want to keep it below 500. The lower the better. I am thinking of using an AMD A 10 7850K APU. So this way I save some money and do not need to get a GPU.

The games I am looking at playing are mostly arcade games. Thinking of using hyperspin for thr front loader and will use wireless xbox 360 controllers. I may play some pc games but nothing too crazy.

Components I will need to get:
APU
DISK DRIVE
SSD (FOR BOOT AND SOME PROGRAMS)
HDD
CASE(SMALL FORM WILL BE BEST)
MOUSE & KEYBOARD
PSU
RAM
MOBO
AFTER MARKET APU COOLER (MAYBE)

Thanks for any and all advice :)

The A8-7600 might be a good option for you on your budget, nearly half the price of the A10 and still has probably 90% of the performance.

That's going to go slightly over $500 by the time you have a mouse/keyboard (the Logitech K400 is great for HTPC's.) Should have decent performance though, I'll just point out the fast RAM at around 2133Mhz is recommended for the best performance on these APU's. Did try to cut the cost on the SSD and HDD but you only save like $20-30 by dropping down to 128GB/500GB. I suppose you could get a cheaper CPU cooler too, you would probably need an aftermarket one in that case though, think it only has about 40mm of clearance for a cooler.
