A Suggestion about Locked Threads

Wouldn't it be better with a thread like this one: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2770508/program-hdd.html to delete it completely rather than lock it? Otherwise the forum could be used to solicit replies via PM.

But it doesn't control what will and will not be communicated via PMs. I think we all know that asking for keys and passwords is not allowed on Tom's, but this is just a backdoor way of allowing it, IMO. Ask for a key; you know the thread will be locked but there's a possibility that someone will supply one via PM.

Pm messegaes are private and can't really be attributed to what the website accepts as permissible or not. So legally it would not be associated with Toms.
people are going to do what every they want the site just controls what it can. As i said its just their way of saying we don't support this.

Anything can happen via PM, they could call each other for all we know. All we can do is make sure no illegal activate on the public site.

generally most piracy related threads are deleted outright however once in awhile we lock them to set an example to remind the masses that piracy is not allowed here. sometimes it helps when people actively see things enforced instead of them happening just on the backend.

while true that we cannot control the topics of pms, they are not likely to get help in this issue. the important thing is that the forum remains clean.
