Stick with IPS or AH-IPS panel monitors.
I personally like the Asus MX279H in your price range.
5ms response time good colour and motion blur technology.

3 will slightly be out of your price range rrp $429, but well worth the money.

I gather your mostly MOBA gaming with the occasional game like GTA 5
response on a 120hz and 144hz is better but will only drastically improve gameplay unless you play competitively. Faster hertz will improve motion blur of gameplay e.g games such as Call of Duty.
Like most gamers, unless you have 20/20 vision it effects are minimal in my experience and opinion.

If you are asking me to choose between 60Hz IPS and 120/144Hz TN for me, I would choose to get 60Hz IPS.
If you ask me, if I can tell the difference between 60Hz and 144Hz, yes I can. I have my reason to compromise to pick better picture quality over smoothness.
Now, if you hate to compromise... so...
If you want have picture quality of IPS/VA, if you want to have 144Hz, if you want 27",
There are e monitors with that features, ASUS MG279Q (FreeSync) and Acer XB270HU (GSync).
Yes, this is reality, not dreams. No compromise is needed anymore between speed/smoothness and quality.
There is however a catch here, yes, you know it already, price. The price is quite high.
But that is why you have to pay for this kind of technology today. It will be cheaper in the future.
I would rather pick 1 super monitor instead of 3 stupid monitors. USD1000 is enough to get one of those 144Hz IPS babies.

IPS Screens have more clarity and better picture and viewing angles at 60hz compared to 144hz TN panels.
Id prefer this as well over a TN panel anyday (TN Panels are old outdate 6 year old technology).
Though u can get 144hz IPS panels they are very expensive.
