So I am currently trying to upgrade my CPU. I have an AMD processor, but I want to get an Intel. I realize I need to also upgrade the motherboard, but I'm worried about how it will all connect.

Here is what I currently have:

What I'm building off of - http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03789886

GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133579

Power Supply - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182200

I use this computer 95% of the time for gaming. I want to get the Intel i5-4690k (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KPRWB9G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) for the CPU. I'm unsure about motherboards though. I was thinking this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K23BW7K/ref=ox_sc_imb_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER. I would appreciate any guidance on this. Thanks ^-^

It looks like you are on the right track. There is usually not much expertise required to pick matching motherboards and CPUs. Motherboard manufacturers list exactly what CPUs each model supports on their websites. For a basic check, if the type of socket matches they will be compatible 99% of the time.

The biggest gotcha in your case could be if HP has included any non-standard mounting. You are replacing an mATX sized motherboard with an mATX, so you should be ok, but OEMs like HP can sometimes make their cases so that its difficult to fit in new motherboards. The cpu cooler or RAM may bump into some other part or baffle they have thrown in. If your case is fairly open, though, you should be fine.
