Hello

I recently got a GTX 750 Ti. I have a VGA 1024x768 monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 740n).

when i try to play a game at a 16:9 resolution (1280x720 for example) the game is stretched and sometimes part of the game doesn't appear on the screen. on my old geforce 210, it had letterbox and the games looked neat!

I use a DVI-I to VGA cable in order for my monitor to work on the GPU.

I did some searching and people said I have to enable GPU scaling but GPU option isn't there in nvidia control panel. here's how it looks like: http://imgur.com/IBXYypo

Another thing that might be helpful is that NCP detects my monitor as 'Analog Display' instead of writing the model number of my monitor.

I have tried doing a clean install of the nvidia drivers 2 times in safe mode and the problem is still here.

I've been trying to solve this for weeks, that's why I'm giving a reward to whoever manages to help me fix it.

Hello... List your Monitor please...
Anything out a VGA connector IS Analog.

I have version 337.88 NVidia Driver with GTX760 and DVI monitor... and I HAVE both options for GPU and Display scaling.

1) Try a older version of NVIDIA software.
2) Get a DVI monitor, Your DATA is digital so Display it the SAME way... Your EYE's will thank your for it... B )
3) Change Freq to the monitor with driver.

My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 740n

1) Which version should I try?
2) DVI-I carries both analog and digital signals also I can't get a new monitor....yet
3) Do you mean refresh rate by frequency? My monitor supports up to 75Hz and I tried changing it from 60Hz to 75Hz and still no effect

Hello... Windows version and bit?
1) 337.88 is still available for download... just like mine... so we can compare "option" results with mine. http://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx Select "Beta, Older drivers" top of middle page to Download it... Do a custom install with just the driver.
2) DOES Your GTX750 Video cards have a RAMDAC Convertor Chip? Or does the digital to analog conversion happen on your Monitor now?... This could be the difference between your older card, as the geforce 210 has the RAMDAC listed as a spec on the card. The RAMDAC chip option will start to vanish in future Video cards... older VGA monitors are a ENERGY concern.
3) Ok thank you.
4) You have a Maximum Resolution of 1280 x 1024 Try another screen size ?

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
1) I'll clean un-install the current driver and install the other one and report the results.
2) I don't really know man. I've done some searching but I didn't manage to know.
4) I tried all possible resoluions from 640x480 to 1280x1024 and still no effect.

Alright, I just installed the 337.88 driver and I still get no option for GPU...

About the RAMDAC thing, this may be helpful. http://imgur.com/8kk5eu0

The monitor appears as 'Analog Display' in Nvidia control panel in both versions of the drivers. On my old GeForce 210 it displayed the model and make number of my monitor. Could this be the problem? I don't really know how to make the driver identify the monitor.

The download contains an exe only that unzips contents in temp folder. I manged to get the inf from there however it wasn't needed for device manager to identify the monitor. Here's how it looks like after installing the driver: http://imgur.com/lPlOO2T

However in Nvidia control panel it's still not working. It still appears as analog display and I'm getting no option for GPU in scaling

Hello... 5) Ok thank you
NEW Questions...
1) Do you understand and know your Aspect ratios between your Software and Display? this is a typical setting change when using an Older TV monitor or watching movies... read below.

I found this in Wiki... "1.25:1 (5:4): Once-popular aspect for larger format computer monitors, especially in the guise of mass-produced 17" and 19" LCD panels or 19" and 21" CRTs, using 1280x1024 (SXGA) or similar resolutions. Notably one of the few popular display aspect ratios narrower than 4:3, and one popularized by business (CAD, DTP) rather than entertainment use, as it is well-suited to full-page layout editing. Historically, 5:4 was also the original aspect ratio of early 405-line television broadcasts, which progressed to a wider 4:3 as the idea of broadcasting cinema films gained traction."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspect_ratio_(image)

2) if you set monitor to "native" resolution does this help? mine is set to native.
3) So if you were to JUST plug your GT210 back into your computer ( Same drivers NO re-install ) right now... the GPU scaling option is now available?
4) What is your "Adjust desktop size screen and position" settings? mine is Aspect ratio enabled. (and the other settings help in your problem).
5) What does "GPU scaling" mean to you? in other words will is there another place or method, like suggested above, that will do?

Reading some articles people recommend "Display" setting... for less input lag... maybe NVIDIA did this for your Card model?

1) Ah I don't really know man.
2) I'm using 1024x768 resolution always (native)
3) I sold out the GeForce 210. can't get it back again :/
4) http://imgur.com/eznryGf Switching between Aspect ratio, Full screen, No scaling doesn't affect scaling in any way.
5) All I want is when I play a game at a 16:9 resolution the game will be letterboxed.
Honestly man I never experienced input lag when I had the GeForce 210.

Hello... 2) Wouldn't Native resolution be at 1280x1024? That is your monitor pixel count...
Here are the Specs... http://www.pcworld.com/product/1415308/samsung-syncmaster-740n-monitor.html

notably... Color Supported 16.7 Million Colors (24-bit) Maximum Resolution 1280 x 1024 these settings should give you 1:1 Native Monitor resolution to start with.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_resolution "as most resolutions are in a 4:3 aspect ratio (640×480, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×960, 1600×1200) but there are odd resolutions that are not, notably 1280×1024."

Try 1280 x 960 for true 4:3
Try 1280 x 720 for true 16:9 720P HD
Try 1280 x 800 for 16:10

Right click Desktop-Screen resolution-Resolution... What is the Windows recommended?

2) 1280 x 1024 isn't the native resolution. heck when i use it a part of the desktop screen doesn't appear on the monitor cause it's not properly scaled. here's a proof 1024 x 768 is the native resolution: http://imgur.com/6WPnztm

There is no windows recommended appearing. here's how it looks like: http://imgur.com/J1jPw6Q

Hello... I noticed your Monitor *.inf file did not take in either Nvidia or the Windows app? also your color bit is incorrect for your monitor.
1) Try deleting the "VGA" monitor in the device manager... All of them if more than one.
2) and then re-boot too determine if Windows will now see your Monitor name and resolution/settings ( *.inf )... OR Report finding new hardware and a driver for it.

1) The monitor driver did work in windows app. http://imgur.com/Cb4RyKq - http://imgur.com/ATbmQra

2) This is like using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) It basicly deletes ANYTHING related to display in order to preform a clean driver install. basically when i use it, it deletes the monitor driver too. when i boot up I see the windows driver installer pop-up and install the generic vga driver. I used DDU 2 times already and it has no effect.

Hello... 1) Can you choose the Syncmaster now as your Display in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution ?
2) Stop repeating or using third party software ( DDU? ) and driver removals to fix this... They are not in my instructions here... all that is needed is Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features to remove installed APPs and Drivers. Go there and post image please.

1) Nope. It still appears as "Display Device on: VGA" Funny thing tho is when I had the GeForce 210 gpu scaling worked with no problem and my monitor appeared as "Generic PnP monitor" in device manager and screen resolution window" but it appeared as syncmaster 740n in Nvidia control panel.

2) Why? I just use it to make sure any driver install I make is 100% clean.

Hello... 2) They are not in my instructions here... B ) I have worked on a lot of Computers... since the i286... and I have never needed one for such a problem... and Thus it could be the Unknown factor, creating yet another problem, with the Windows Registry, or with me trying to help you.

All my monitor settings were same after I installed the GTX 750 Ti and Before and After using DDU. Windows was just using the generic monitor driver.
