Should I upgrade my monitor?

I am building a new PC with the following specifications

Intel i5 4690 3.5 Ghz processor
AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB graphic card
Motherboard with H97 chipset
A monitor with 60hz refresh rate.

Should I upgrade my monitor to higher refresh rate or G-Sync or let it remain as it is? I neither want tearing nor lag.

In theory you don't, on the other hand you maybe able to overclock your current monitor to a higher refresh rate. Outside of that you could get a bigger monitor if lets say your current one is 22". Lots of options there, only you can answer.

See how it runs on the new setup , then if your not happy with performance , upgrade it.
