I'm currently dual-booting Win7 and Ubuntu but I want to make two changes; I want to use a 250GB SSD I have sitting around and upgrade to Win10.

My first question, is 250GB big enough to put both OSes on it? I use Windows more frequently. Would it be better to let windows use the SSD and put Ubuntu on another HD? If I partition the SSD for both what kind of space do I need to leave for each OS?

Second question is about order of operation...how the heck do I do this? Am I best off downloading Win10 to a USB drive and just start fresh?

Yes, 250 gig is enough space for both operating systems (depending on what else you have on those partitions).

I have a laptop what was Linux and Win8 which I upgraded to Win10 and I did have a problem with Win10 beta overwriting my grub2 loader. To fix it I had to reinstall my Linux partition which wasn't that much of an issue since I was upgrading to a new edition of that also.

Here's a nice article that I read which helped after my problems.
