Getting emails for own replies

Recently, I've noticed that whenever I reply to a thread, I get emails notifying me of my own reply!
Is this supposed to happen? It is a bit annoying to get notifications for my own answers.

Also, is it normal to get email notifications of new replies to a thread even when you haven't checked the 'enable email notification box'? I'm not talking about emails about best answers, rather those that notify you of new replies.
