My friend is selling me 2 AMD Radeon R9 290x's to run crossfire. Which power supply should I get? Which power supply is the bare minimum for these 2 graphics cards?

you'll want at least 800w for those 2 gpu's.

they are close to 300w each at full load. another 100+ w for the cpu and you'll easily be using a full 800w+ for the system. 850w would be the minimum i would go to be safe.

So if you run everything at full capacity, 850 watts would be able to handle it?

i believe so. not knowing the model of 290x the highest power draw i see is about 300w under full load so that's what i based it on. likely you'll use less but better safe than sorry.

i guess i should ask what cpu you will use. a super overclocked 8350 or 9*** series will demand more power. but an i5/i7 even heavily overclocked will still be good to go.

should you be using a high powered amd cpu, then even more power is needed. otherwise the 850w will be enough. something like the solid evga b2 would be ample and semi modular as well.
