Hello, everyone!

I have a GTX 780 in my rig, in which I've checked the specs and can (barely, looking at the specs) run three screen 4K. However, I don't feel like spending around two thousand dollars for a 3 screen setup, so I'd rather stick around 1080P or 1440P. Here's my question:

Should I buy 3 1080P monitors and possibly get an upgrade later on, or should I buy three 1440P monitors now and not need an upgrade, or maybe a mix? I'm looking for a 3 screen setup, preferably similar monitors, for surround.

I've been looking at the Acer H236HL BID for 1080P, and the Acer K272HUL bmiidp for the 1440P monitors. If anyone has any other recommendations for monitors, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

The GTX 780 would struggle (about 25-40 fps) in GPU-intensive gaming (i.e., high/ultra settings) on a single 1440p monitor (and you can just imagine what more with a triple-1440p surround). Only way for that single 780 to work on that single 1440p display will be to probably go with super-low settings.

If you go with the triple-1080p setup, your single GTX 780 would reach about 28 fps in BF4, a GPU-intensive game (note that a single GTX 970 would just be over 30 fps) :

However, for less-intensive games, such as GRID 2, your single GTX 780 on a triple-1080p setup would reach about 48 fps...

The choice would depend upon the games you will be playing, but I would say that you might consider upgrading your GPU in the mix, if you really need a 3-monitor setup.

The triple-1440p requires A LOT of GPU power (that's 11M pixels). You'll definitely need at least 2x GTX 980 Ti in SLI for acceptable framerates.
