Heyy!
Im planning to buy a 4k g sync monitor. I do play quite often. Id like to play at high settings or above? Any thoughts? Any of you got titan x or 980 sli? CPU is a 6700K Skylake.
Power consumption is not an issue. Ive got 2 r9 290 reference right now. Nothing can make me surprised >D
Cheers guys

I would just go the single Titan X, however a better idea is to buy the 980ti, and then SLI it later or if you have the money at the time you buy it.

SLI 980ti will be able to max most games at 4k. The 980ti is Titan X performance with 6gb's less vram but for much less. It depends what game's you play, the 12gb's on the Titan X will be useful for 4k however the price tag is much much more. A single 980ti, Im guessing should get you high/medium at 4k with decent FPS. A titan X would be very similar.

SLI 980 just doesn't have enough vram, the 4gb's will get used up very easily.

-good luck

edit: also the 980ti/Titan X overclock very well, up to 1500mhz+ with an overvolt.

There is not much difference in performance of Titan X and 980 Ti. You should spend $350 extra on Titan X only if you really need its 12GB VRAM. You should rather for GTX 980 Ti SLI which will run almost every game currently in market in high settings.

EDIT- Just for a comparison between GTX 980 Ti and Titan X, you can see this video.

I'm in your same boat and purchased a single Titan X to play the Witcher 3 at 4k 60hz on my 27" monitor.
To be honest, I am getting another one for SLI.

I can play the games, but I can tell it is not 100% smooth and definitely not at 60fps.
If you want to dumb the settings down a bit, a single Titan X will do, but if you're interested in playing on FULL settings, than Titan X SLI is needed.

4K is more demanding than I thought when researching.

Thanks for your answer. I think I'll go with 980ti SLI the Strix version. Outperforms the titan quite often and its 200 pounds cheaper too. Paired with a g sync display and lets hope the best. :)
