Hey guys im new to here. I recently have gotten more interested in pc Gaming. Above is my current config on my computer. I know I will need a graphics card but im looking to spend no more than $150 for it. Really just a casual gamer that would like to play games like Arkham Knight and Assassin's Creed games, have a ps4 but dont play it that much. Not necessarily looking to be able to run games on max settings, but would like a fun game experience, so which graphics card should I buy? please help thanks

Without changing the power supply, I think the best you can get your hands on is a GTX 750 Ti (A 950 should be fine, but I'm not so sure you can push it, nor that you can find it under 150$).
If you had to spend for a better PSU around 500~600W tho, you could get your hands on an R7 370, which should be slightly better.

You should be able to get some fine performance ad medium details and resolutions. Nothing extraordinary, of course, but nice enough to actually enjoy the games, instead of watching a stop-motion video at its lowest quality ;)

The GTX 950 is about $10 to $20 above your price range and is quite a bit better than the 750ti. If you shop around you will probably find a reference card for sub £150. I ran a GTX 960 on a 380 watt supply so 300 may be enough but would be pushing it.

hmmm, ok So im kind of confused. Are you guys saying that upgrading psu so i can have a stronger gpu would allow me to play these newer games at maximum requirements??? or that they would just allow me to play most of the newer games at something like suggested requirements. I will probably play casually but if buying a psu and gpu for lets say 250 total would allow me to play the newer games for the next 2 or 3 years then i would rather go that route than getting just a gpu for 125-150 and be able to play for 1 - 2 years. My basic question is, how much of a different would going each route make????? thanks

For $250 you could get a R9 380 and a decent PSU at about 550 watts. You could also get a R9 280x which is a little faster but needs more power.
The only Nvidia card in the range is a GTX 960 but falls behind the R9s. I had (have still got) one but I was not overly impressed.

As for the future, I cannot say for sure but as most top games will be shared with the consoles and your cpu combined with a R9 is a lot better than the consoles I guess you will be ok on high settings until the next consoles arrive.

Yesterday Slickdeals was showing a 430W Power Supply on NewEgg for $16.

If you can find a good deal on a PSU (all you need is 550W at an absolute max) and after that you can get a GTX 950.

Look at it this way, you have an i7 based PC, it is a new CPU and a beast of a CPU, this PC can easily last you 5-6 years with zero upgrades so you will be able to use it for a very long time. If you cheap out now and just get a 750ti, 2-3 years down the road you will be looking for a new GPU, a 950 is much newer and almost as good as a 960.

Just wait for a good deal on a PSU, it should not cost more that $50. Get a PSU and a GTX 950 and you are good to go for 5 years of solid gaming, and hopefully in 2 years you will also add an SSD to your system.
