Every time I leave the computer (running) and go do something else, without turning off monitor or anything, I come back to a running machine and a monitor that's 'entering Power Save mode'. I have to hard-reset the machine, and it's frustrating, I lose 5 minutes every time.

Why does this happen? This never happened on my old XP machine, if I budged the mouse or hit a key, the screen would spring back to life.

Is it a monitor problem? Win10 is otherwise excellent, this happens to be the biggest problem I've found. How do I configure the machine or monitor, so I don't have this issue?

Solution

Try setting "Sleep" to never.

Default settings are Display off @ 10 minutes, Sleep Mode @ 30 minutes. If my problem isn't a problem after all, how do I get the monitor to actually display after I return? No keys or moving mouse seems to turn on the display.
