**UPDATED**

EVGA GTX 980 ti SC+ VS. Gigabyte gaming g1 980 ti WindForce Vs Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme Edition

Which is better for gaming (4k)? They are all around the same price.

If you want better performance (i.e., more fps in certain games), then the Gigabyte 980 Ti is the way to go.

However, if you prefer less noise, then the EVGA 980 Ti SC+ wins in this one.

Then again, if temperature is a concern for you, the Gigabyte 980 Ti is cooler.

First off they are both 980ti's, so pretty much the same. except they have different coolers and the G1 gaming clocks slightly higher on GPU boost.

HOWEVER, you can yourself match this by manual overclocking.
Personally I would go the G1 gaming 1. for looks 2. for their GPU selection process (which means maybe slightly better overclocks)

So for clock speed (g1 gaming overclocks better) and looks the g1 gaming would be my choice, however both would perform the same when overclocked to the same frequencies. They are both still the same GPU core. Go based on price, looks, and what you plan to do with it.

It seems that the ASUS Strix GTX 980 ti OC is even better based on the charts you supplied. Is that a better choice than the g1 or the evga? (regardless of price)

I wouldn't recommend the Strix if you are concerned with temperature levels. It may perform atop the others, may be one of the least noisy 980 ti BUT it certainly has the highest temps! So, if temps are a problem area for you, my personal choice is the MSI. (I would go for Gigabyte as the coolest temp but, like the Strix, the other side of the coin is that the Gigabyte is the noisiest!)

How about the Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme Edition?

The Zotac AMP Extreme has the best OC that I know compared to the other cards available. I just don't have enough data regarding it's noise levels and temperature.

I'll repost my previous answers to the questions about the 980 Ti in another thread:

2. If I do buy the 980TI, which one should I buy? Reference or non?

Definitely get the non-reference version. There are a lot of 980 Ti versions to choose from with different manufacturers offering different advantages (and disadvantages) compared with others - while, of course, price will also be a huge factor. Here's a quick chart at the current GTX 980 Ti versions available.

The choice of which one to buy depends on what is most important to you (Clock Speed? Size? Noise? Temperature? Price? Colors?).

Specs-for-specs these are my compiled findings of some of the 980 Ti available in the market:

Highest Core Clock Speed (Reference: 1.0GHz):
1. Zotac AMP! Extreme Edition (ZT-09505-10P) @ 1.25GHz
2. Asus Strix DirectCU III (Asus STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING) @ 1.22GHz
3 - 4 (Tied). EVGA Classified Kingpin Edition (06G-P4-5998-KR) @ 1.20GHz
3 - 4 (Tied). Msi Lightning @ 1.20GHz
5 - 7 (Tied). Gigabyte (GV-N98TG1 GAMING-6GD) @ 1.19GHz
5 - 7 (Tied). EVGA FTW ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4996-KR) @ 1.19GHz
5 - 7 (Tied). EVGA Classified ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4998-KR) @ 1.19GHz
8 - 9 (Tied). Zotac AMP! Omega Edition (ZT-90504-10P) @ 1.18GHz
8 - 9 (Tied). Msi Gaming 6G (V323-001R) @ 1.18GHz
10. Palit Super JetStream (NE5X98TH15JB-2000J) @ 1.15GHz

Least Card Length (if it matters):
1. Inno3D Herculez OC (N98TV-1SDN-N5HNX) @ 266mm
2 - 5 (Tied). EVGA FTW ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4996-KR) @ 267mm
2 - 5 (Tied). EVGA Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4995-KR) @ 267mm
2 - 5 (Tied). EVGA Superclocked ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4993-KR) @ 267mm
2 - 5 (Tied). EVGA ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4991-KR) @ 267mm
6. Msi Gaming LE @ 269mm
7 - 10 (Tied). EVGA Classified Kingpin Edition (06G-P4-5998-KR) @ 280mm

6. EVGA FTW ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4996-KR) - 1.19GHz - $679.99 @ Amazon ($571.42/GHz)
7. EVGA Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4995-KR) - 1.10GHz - $649.99 @ Newegg ($590.90/GHz)
8. EVGA Classified ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4998-KR) - 1.19GHz - $709.98 @ Newegg ($596.62/GHz)

The Zotac's have the best Price/Performance (as far as Base Clocks are concerned). I have no data regarding its noise and temperature performance. If your concerned with Noise Levels, Msi clearly has the least noise (compared with selected specific models of the Asus, EVGA, and Gigabyte). Gigabyte clearly has the least temps (in that same limited comparison). Any of the listed EVGA with a good Price/Performance quotient may also be considered depending on your available budget. In the end, it's going to be your call (especially if colors are also your concern).

Thanks, this was super helpful. One more thing, though. Overall, what card is your personal favorite? I think I will go with the MSI or the Zotac, most likely the Zotac, but what is your favorite? (Just so I can get some help deciding :p)

You're welcome!

MSI would be my personal favorite among the 980 Ti's for its low temps, low noise, average-high clock speed, and average-high price-performance. It sort of balances everything out across the factors that I consider... and... I like Black+Red builds (my corporate colors).

I know that this sounds sort of random, but it has to do with graphics cards. I heard about the Asus ROG Matrix GTX 980 Ti Platinum is soon to be released. Do you know anything about that card at all?

I was in a similar dilemma and went with the Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming 6G. The coil whine issue is immaterial as with the case closed and with headphones on I can hear nothing but the awsum sounds of my games. Even without headphones on, all I can hear is the deep hum of the Case with all the CM Jetflo fans, CPU cooler and GPU fans mask the coil whine (if there is one) ;-)
