Can't Ping any websites/computers?

Ever since I've upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 I've had issues using remote desktop connection, always giving me an error that said:

Remote Desktop cannot find the computer xxx. this might mean that xxx doesn't belong to the specific network

I know that's the right computer name (and user credentials). When I try to ping it in CMD I get the same error. It's not only using remote desktop though, I can't ping anything. Google/yahoo won't ping, nor tracert.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Is your network being classified as a home network or public network, if it is public it blocks access to things like RDP, Ping, SMB and other networked services.

It's private, maybe changing it to work will help?

Private is Win 10 version of "home" on windows 7. If you were on public that would be your issue.

Go into adapter properties and uncheck IPv6 for your network adapter.

I did and it didn't change anything. It's weird though because it all works fine on my laptop which has the exact same windows 10 install on it, and on the same network.

Try disabling any of the Virtual or Pseudo network adapters if you have any.

Didn't work. I can't change settings in my firewall either for whatever reason. get an error message saying that snap-in is unavailable.

Hmmmm, sounds more like the upgrade to 10 got botched up then if you cant access firewall.

Will have to do a fresh install.
