There are a lot of causes of the hal.dll bluescreen errors. I'd recommend starting with this, to avoid having to spent a ton of time trying to track down the particular cause, which will likely be resolved by a blanket resolution anyhow.

And that doesn't resolve the issue, I'd consider backing up all my data and doing a clean install. Most OEM systems come with so much crap installed on them that it's usually a good idea to do a clean install anyway. I'd use a keyfinder to extract the product key, just in case the system doesn't want to recall the activation automatically during the installation, and record it on paper for reference.
