Is it possible to connect a monitor with both a DVI and a HDMI cable to one single GPU?

I got a 144hz monitor recently and apparently it only displays at high refresh rates with the DVI cable, but I'd also like to use the HDMI cable for the sound. Is it possible to connect both of these into one single GPU? I'm hesitant that something bad might happen.

Hello,

You will only be able to use one of them. You can switch between inputs in your monitor's OSD. If your graphics card support this, then a DVI to HDMI adapter will let you carry sound as well.

Why not connect just the hdmi?
U want to connect one gpu card to one screen?
And yes,u can use multiple screen or one screen with dual connection
