Hi building new pc just need a bit of help choosing a monitor I usually play fps games like cs:go and wow sometimes also like watching tv show and movies as well was thinking between either the dell U2715H or BenQ XL2720Z which seems fair bit better for gaming.

Also looked a the Acer Predator XB270HU and ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q but have read a lot about quality issues and returns.

GPU is GTX 980

Thanks.

If you want IPS panel then choose Dell, but that mobo has 8ms GTG which is not good for CS:GO game.
If you want TN panel, then get this
BenQ XL2730Z 1440p 144Hz 1ms GTG TN panel

I see now what you mean about Predator/Swift issues.

Start point: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/monitor/ (not all monitors listed)

BENQ above appears like a great monitor but I'm assuming is a FREESYNC monitor based on specs (but you can run in normal synchronous mode).

If interested (and I can't find anything else with high quality, 1440p, 144Hz... I would recommend learning to use:

NVidia Half Adaptive VSYNC (force on per game).

When you want VSYNC to avoid screen tear but can't achieve 144FPS this is the best way to go. It will lock to 72FPS but if you can't output 72FPS then VSYNC is simply turned off (to avoid stuttering due to different frame times).

I did have a look at the BenQ XL2730Z but not sure if i should get it because its FreeSync, also is GSync really worth it since I have a nvidia card ? has there been many QC issues with this monitor ?

Sorry I missed that Term that you already have a GTX 980.
If you can wait a bit, then see this
