I'm upgrading from my FX- 6300 next month and was wondering what would be the difference in games between the i5 4460 and the i5 4690. I was going to get the 4690 but I think the 4460 gives just about the same performance for $30 less. It'll be going on this.

The games I plan to play a lot are Fallout 4(many mods), Just Cause 3, Black Desert, maybe Battlefront. The 380 might turn into a 390 depending on some of their final requirements.

EDIT: I'm on a 1080p but will move up to 2560x1080p later.

There most likely won't be a noticeable difference between the 4460 and 4690. From what I remember, 4460 is the budget option, 4590 is price to performance, and the 4690 isn't worth the price increase.

The easiest way to determine the 'best' is to calculate Hz per $. (Hz/Cost in $ and use the frequency halfway between the base cock and Turbo Boost.

On that basis, the 4460 is usually the best value. Sometimes it is the 4590, it is almost never the 4690.

Any modern i5 will drive two decent GPUs, so 1440p or even 4k, with the right GPUs, is great.
