my lcd monitor goes black after it is on for a few seconds then i shut it off and turn it back on and it stays on for a little

my lcd monitor goes black after it is on for a few seconds then i shut it off and turn it back on and it stays on for a little bit and then it goes off . but the power is on and all the cables are on right .and if i leve it off for a while and turn it back on it stays on for a little while longer

sounds like a bad capacitor inside. if you are comfortable with electronics then you can open up your monitor (at your own risk) and look for a blown capacitor somewhere on the PCB. I had this happen once, cost me $1 to fix it. Be careful and I'm sure you'd void any warranties if i you do this....
