Hi,

so I'm currently thinking about getting an upgrade for my 7 year old build and was wondering if I should consider also upgrading my current PSU.
I'm currently running a Antec NeoPower 650W Blue Bronze certified 85% efficiency PSU.

The current build is as follows:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @3.2GHz @1.19V
Cooler: Noctua NH-C12P
MB: Gigabyte X48-DS4
Memory: 4x2GB Corsair DDR2 800 MHz CL4 XMS2 DHX Series
GPU: MSI HD7970 Lightning GPU Freq: 1110MHz, Memory Freq: 1500MHz @Stock Voltage
HDD: 2xHard disk Seagate Desktop HDD 320GB 7200RPM 16MB SATAII ES
SSD1: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB
SSD2: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
Case: Antec TwelveHundred V1

I intend to replace only the CPU, MB, Memory and CPU cooling with the following:

CPU: Intel i7 6700K Skylake (will want to overclock)
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX Extreme Performance
MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO
Memory: HyperX Savage Black 16GB DDR4 2666MHz CL13 Dual Channel Kit (might replace it with 2x16GB 32GB dual channel kit if i can find one)

The rest will pretty much be the same as in the previous build.

By my calculations i should be fine with my current PSU Wattage under full load going only to about 550W with both new and old build. What i am worried about is that the PSU is old. Am I in any danger of deteriorating the new components due to the old age of the PSU? Should i get a replacement?

Appreciate any helpful answers.

Yeah I'm pretty much worried about the same thing. It worked fine up until now can't really say I had any issues with it even under load it is stable but I've read that a lot of people seem to have had issues with this series of PSUs.

For now, I would say you are safer when you buy a new highish quality PSU.
