I install 2x2GB ram and only recognise it as 2x1GB in the bios (KINGSTON KHX8500D2K2/4G HYPERX DDR2 4GB (2X2GB) PC8500 1066MHZ GENESIS DUAL CHANNEL KIT)

The bios version is the 0201 from 2007 should I update to the new one 1003 from 2010, do you think that is the problem? also how to update the bios in this old mobo?

Definitely update the BIOS! To do this, go to the ASUS website, look for your motherboard and install the latest BIOS available which can be found on that page
