Need help with new benq monitor.

So I just got benq's XL2411 and it's supposed to be 144hz but when I go into my control panel to change the refresh rate it only says 60hz. As of now I'm using the DVI cable that it came with as the DVI dual link that also came with the monitor doesn't work either. My video card is a Geforce GTX 750ti and it came with a program called GPU Tweak that allows you to change the Display Refresh Rate. I've tried to set it to 144hz but the screen just flickers and then it goes back to 60hz. I've also tried cru.exe and that didn't work either. Nvidia Control Panel nor Catalyst Control Panel hasn't worked either. Also the Gamma, Contrast and colors are all bright and wonky when I first used this monitor does anyone have any recommended calibrations for these settings that make it optimal for FPS gaming. This was the only reason I got the monitor so I would greatly appreciate an answer for either problem.

Cable that comes in the box is not a dual link.

Otherwise you would of been able to see 144 Hz.

I was given both a DVI cable and a DVI dual link cable. Unfortunately neither worked. To add onto my problems my computer just blue screened and restarted.
