Coming on and off constantly "Safely Remove Hardware" icon

I installed win7 sp1 to ger free upgrade to win10 on a new box and it went very well, except one small problem.

The 'Safely remove hardware' icon on lower right, comes on and goes off, 1/2 sec on, then 2 seconds off.

also, if Device manager is open, it keeps refreshing the hardware display every time the icon comes on/goes off.

Now, this is a new machine, there is only one usb device in the box, a Corsair Cooler monitor, plugged into a usb 2.0 header, which I unplugged and rebooted, still no fix

Provided you've preformed the upgrade procedure as per this thread and have installed all the necessary drivers on your system there shouldn't be any issues. Is it possible to post a screenshot of what you're seeing in device manager?

You can also try running SFC /SCANNOW and see if there is any change in the notifications behavior.
