I am currently working on putting a parts list together for my first gaming PC. I decided I might as well go all out and try to get a great setup for around 2000 (but the lower the price the better). I plan to use this PC for gaming mainly and will run a wide range of titles from league of legends to battlefront and GTA. I also plan to run either a 1440 or 4k monitor but am still doing a little research into those, I currently have a 1080p monitor so I may hold off on buying the upgraded monitor until shortly after I get the PC itself paid for. Here is the current part list, any and all advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

In general, your build is good. and well worth the price.

Q1) Have you thought about Skylake or Haswell X99 system? why this mobo? you CPU is only 4 cores.
Q2) Case? You're in love with the case? there are much better cases.
Q3) scythe slipstream is very very loud. Do you think you really need it?
Q4) Do you really want a huge case and full atx build? You think you will need to go sli? consider just upgrading the GPU in like .... 4-5 years lol.....That's why i think you could go with a bit more clean and smaller MATX build. See below.

+ ~200 for the mouse and keyboard

This build is my advice due to it's a bit more capable than yours, no overpriced items, not that flashy and all, but this classy look will look good for years to come, and those shiny parts usually look stupid after few years. All components are very very high quality.

Your system is really good. I would suggest going for some better quality fans like bequiet, noctua, phanteks or blacknoise. I am happy with the rest!

That is a very good build. You will love it. I would go with a better case, with fans already in them! Hope this helps!

Wow, thanks for all the advice everyone. To answer your questions Jesus, I have been hearing about skylake and haswell, but have not yet looked into them much. I will certainly do some more research on the two and maybe make some adjustments accordingly. I am certainly not in love with the case, that has been one part of the build ive been swithing multiple times a day, but I am open to suggestions (still looking to stay in the mid tower size).

I do not need the scythe fans and based on other responses I will most likely scratch the extra fans, get a case that already has some fans, and maybe buy some more if needed.

Considering the GPU I am going with I will probably not need SLI since I will just stick with the one card

Obviously I'm completely new to this so I'm happy to hear I seem to have most of it right, but im open to suggestions on other MOBO's and other parts you think may work better

From my perspective and in comparison to Skylake - your CPU is a bit oldschool for this build. If you are not into overcooling a lot - skylake is best for you. if you're into more oc - go with LGA2011

You don't need much CPU in games, much more required in 3D modeling rendering etc. anyways, 6 cores and hyperthreading will be beneficial in a year or two. If you only gaming - even i5-4690K is totally enough for u mate. You could go cheaper now, and invest into totally new modern CPU and mobo in 3 years.

anyway. in regards to your case/fan conserns - you will find all the answers if you review my build in detail :)

tell me again, what is your budget and be reasonable, what are your expectations, requirements. give me more detail. if you're only gaming, you can save some bucks

The h440 is one I keep being drawn back to. The only reason I moved away is because I dont think I want to see a great looking setup inside with that nice creamy brown noctua fan in the middle lol. Any recommendations on other fan cooling units that would keep an i7 nice and cool and that are any other color than the noctua?

I will most likely not oc much on this build, at least not at first since I am new to all this. Gaming is definitely the main purpose of this computer, since I have a laptop I use for work. But if I'm already investing this much money, I do not want to run into issues with not being able to do certain things because I wanted to save a few bucks on the processor and mobo.

Trying to stay around $2000 all said and done for this guy and want something that will run games flawlessly and at very high res (once I upgrade the monitor). I am not being too picky with this build just want something I know will perform really well for at least a few years to come

Just to throw another question out there, I was originally looking into getting a h100i or something of the sort to cool my cpu but heard some stories about them leaking and the coolant dripping to the GPU and ruining it. This has made me really skeptical about going with a liquid cooled set up so I was just going to go with the fan coolers for the cpu. Lets say I go with something like a i7 6700k cpu, would going with the fan design have any impact on performance or longevity of my setup?

Due to the risk, my build doesn't include any liquid cooling. IMO - all this liquid cooling is more of marketing trick.

The phanteks case, and fans and CPU cooler are very good quality, google reviews, tests, comparisons etc.

there's not many z170 matx mobos, but this one looks fine. asus hero is bit overpriced, i don't like the gigabyte gaming 5 looks :D but have a look yourself. This build is perfect for 1440p gaming.

Well Phanteks is a quality choice, and come in different colours. Also bequiet are highly suggested!
