Toshiba Satellite matshita-dvd-ram properties system file RAW

D:\ winxp, matshita-dvd-ram, Toshiba Satellite... In D:\ properties it is showing RAW instead of ntfs or udff...I have approximately 40-Memorex DVD-R 4.7GB 120 min-video capacity...properties show no space on these DVD-R's either used nor empty and will not allow for formating.

Try a different DVD drive. Although you may just be using the drive wrong, you don't format the drives, you burn files to them. If you try burning a file to a disk does it work? In order to use the drive as a formatted disk that you can just copy files to you need to install a specific file system to run, but that does not work with a DVD-R, need an RW.
