Hi,

I have a laptop, so I don't have the serial key or anything for the Windows copy that's on it. I want to upgrade it to an SSD, though. How do I do that? I don't really care about losing data, anything that matters is in the cloud anyway.

Thanks

Solution
1. There should be a product id sticker on your laptop.
Possibly inside the battery compartment.

2. Run a free app called Magical jellybean keyfinder.
It will find your activation code for you.

A clean install on a laptop is possible, but it is often hard to find the proprietary drivers that may be involved.

The easy way to convert is to buy a ssd that comes with a good cloning utility.
Samsung has a good one for their ssd's.
Use a simple usb to sata cable to attach the new ssd.
Run the clone utility; when done, replace the laptop hard drive.

This is a good thing; you will be amazed at the difference in performance that a ssd makes.
